Eek! Aspirin time!  I’m getting a cold….  Recording of part 20 is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Hoping a good night of sleep and some tea will keep me up and running 🙂

And, of course, here’s the excerpt of part 20…

Milly’s steps seemed louder than usual. Every time she put one foot in front of the other, the sound echoed in her ears.

Her hands were balled into fists. She rolled her shoulders back to loosen them up. Her suit jacket moved with her. Milly pulled at its sleeves to straighten it out.

She inspected the rest of her outfit. The pants of her tan suit were ironed to perfection. Her brown leather shoes were shiny. “My dandy shoes,” she thought and smiled.

Milly touched her hair carefully. It felt rock solid. The team had used tons of hairspray and wax to mold it into shape. Her long, wavy hair now miraculously looked short and boyish.

She tugged at her colourful tie. The knot was supposed to be a bit loose and she sure was glad about that. It gave her a little more room to breathe.

Milly turned the corner. On her right, the door to Suzanne’s dressing room was wide open. She wouldn’t be able to pass by unnoticed. “Might as well do the right thing,” Milly thought.

She poked her head inside. Suzanne was sitting at the dressing table. She was fully dressed as the Countess in a long red gown. She looked absolutely stunning, of course.

Carry, from the make-up team, was busy doing Suzanne’s hair. She and Suzanne both turned their heads. Milly grinned confidently. “Hey,” she said.

Suzanne’s eyes lit up. “Well well, hello there. Ready?” Milly struck a pose to show off her costume. “Ready and on my way now.”

Suzanne smiled. Her diamond earrings sparkled. “You look good. You’re going to blow everyone away. Go get em, Cherubino.”

Milly winked. “That’s the plan. See you on stage in a bit, my lady.” She met Carry’s eyes. “Make her look extra good today, Carry!”

Carry shook her head and eyed Suzanne in the mirror. “That girl gets into character way too much.” Suzanne just smiled.
