Kiss the girl by Melissa Brayden

Kiss the girl by Melissa Brayden

Kiss the girl by Melissa BraydenLet’s talk about Kiss the girl, by Melissa Brayden. First, the story.

What’s the story about?

Brooklyn is a young and ambitious New York girl working for a small, cosy advertising agency she owns with her 3 best friends. Jessica also has an advertising business of her own, but she’s alone at the top with few friends and a daunting reputation as a corporate shark. When they meet, in a bar, sparks fly. But when they meet again as competitors in an important pitch…things get complicated.

Is it a good book?

Is it a good book? Yes, it is very entertaining. Smile inducing. There’s plenty of depth in it as well. No superficial story about girl meets girl. This is the real world. And the world is far from perfect.

I did feel the author really wanted to make a point out of including these real life, saddening elements to the story. Without spoiling the book for you, both characters have to deal with serious problems in their past or close environment.

Kiss the girl: credible characters living in the real world

While I’m not quite sure both of these story lines were necessary, I do like Brayden’s courage to address these types of issues in a romance book. It made the characters very credible and relatable.

Speaking of credible, I’m in marketing and advertising. I was happy to see our crazy world described pretty accurately. This again proves Melissa Brayden knows what she’s doing.

Should I read it?

If you like a slow build up between two characters, you might want to pick another book. They’re making out on page … Well, let’s say very early in the book.

You’ll like this book if you like credible characters and a mature, calm story line. This is one of the more realistic lesbian romance books I’ve read. It’s up to you to decide if you like a touch of reality in your lesbian romance 😉
