Payment FAQ

General Questions

Are you also on Patreon?

Yes! You can also support TLR through Patreon. Check out my page!

Can I pay with a debit card?

Unfortunately, you can only use a debit card to contribution if you have a Paypal account with a linked debit card. This website can not process debit cards directly at this time.

Is the payment secure?

Yes, this website uses two secure and reputable payment processing gateways: Paypal and Stripe. Your credit card data and the transaction are processed on their secure servers, not mine. I believe in letting the experts handle this 🙂

Why do you say the payment is SSL encrypted?

This website use an SSL certificate to encrypt the information that’s sent from your browser to the site and back. When this website sends you to the payment website to process your contribution, that information is also encrypted. Once you arrive at the payment processing page, Stripe or Paypal’s SSL encryption take over.

Is my contribution tax deductible?

No, it is not. The Lesbian Romantic is written and/or produced by Cheesecake Media, my for-profit business entity.

Is The Lesbian Romantic a non-profit?

No, it is not. My company Cheesecake Media BVBA is a for-profit company. To be more precise, I run my company with a ‘profit for a purpose’ model.

Recurring Contributions

How do I cancel a recurring contribution?

If you used Paypal to process the payment, you can log in to your Paypal account and cancel it there. Here’s a bit of info by Paypal.

If you did not use Paypal, you can use this page to cancel your recurring contribution.

How do I change my card or payment information?

It’s currently not possible to change your card or payment information on this website. You will have to cancel your recurring contribution and set up a new one. You can change your payment method in Paypal, though!

Troubleshooting

Why was my card declined?

Your card can be declined for several reasons:

  • The card information is incorrect. Double check if you entered the right card number, security code and expiration date.
  • The card issuer blocked your payment. This can happen for several reasons. The only way to find out why your card issuer blocked a payment is to contact them. You might be asked about the merchant you’re trying to pay. My company is called Cheesecake Media and is located in Belgium. I have seen this problem with Visa only so far. A possible workaround is using a different card (by another card issuer) or using Paypal.
