Without warning (Shaken, Book 1) by KG MacGregor

Without warning KG MacGregorAnother suspenseful lesbian romance book! I never thought I’d like the mix of dramatic events, like a plane crash or an earthquake, and lesbian romance… But I sure do.

Without Warning had me at the edge of my seat immediately. I was there with Anna and Lily trapped in that collapsed building after a major earthquake. I mean, I was waving my wife off: “Leave me be! I’m reading!”

The story

That brings us to the story. Anna Kaklis is a fancy auto dealer working for her family business. Lily Stewart is an attorney helping low-income women with divorce, abuse and custody cases. They get trapped in a collapsed building together and develop an unusual bond because of it.

Funny as hell

One of my favorite things about this book: the funny banter between the two main characters. You instantly like them both, and you really want them to end up together. That takes a while, so you keep reading and turning pages like crazy. I wasn’t even quite sure it would ever happen. That’s quite an accomplishment in the lesbian romance genre 😉

Wait, I’m a lesbian?

If you don’t like your characters to be ‘straight at first’, you might have to skip on this book, though. There’s a husband walking around and Anna has no idea she’s gay until she develops her relationship with Lily. I’d recommend giving the book a try, even if you don’t like that sort of thing.

Credible enough

The characters have plenty of depth and you share their life and family experiences. In other words: it’s a well-developed story that has much more to offer than suspense or the build up to romance. Anna and Lily aren’t people I’d easily walk into, but I still found them to be credible enough. The humor and banter helped a great deal with this.

Should you read it?

Summary? Give this book a try! I’m pretty sure you’ll wonder what happened to your day a few hours later, after not being able to stop reading  😉
