I’m surprised by how much I’ve come to love El without having an alternating chapter from her perspective. Initially I was a bit sad to not have that but staying with Louise has really grounded me in her experience of this. Can’t wait to see how she handles Michelle.

Yes, I think many listeners were disappointed I deviated from the format. 🙂 I decided I needed that challenge as a writer, though. I figured it would be much harder to tell a story from only one side. And it was :’)
I really wanted listeners to fall for El through Louise’s eyes. Not being able to look inside El’s head makes her more mysterious. It’s also a more realistic experience to not know how she feels.
So yeah, I’m still happy I made this choice. It taught me so much. The next story will be told with switching perspectives again and I think I will get more out of that ‘classic lesfic’ format now because of what I have learned in the last year with Louise.
All that being said…I loooooved writing the Christmas scene from El’s perspective. It felt like going on a holiday! It was wonderful to see Louise through El’s eyes for a change. I’ve grown very fond of both characters,

It really did work though! I fell for El pretty hard and was yelling out loud at Louise in the bunker.
